When we prepare our hand made squash flavored treats we are always careful to choose the right type of squash and make sure it is fresh as possible. We peel the skin and remove the seed as we know that can be difficult for some dogs to digest. We make sure we cook it thoroughly whether steaming, boiling, or baking because it enhances the flavor and softens, making it easier to digest. We mash or puree the squash once cooked to make sure it is a smooth consistency to incorporate into our treats.
We suggest eating all of our homemade treats within 10 days as we do not use any additives to extend shelf life. Always ensure treats are given in moderation and that any new foods introduced to your pet's diet are safe and suitable for their specific dietary needs.
