Hahnii Bird's Nest Snake Plant
The Hahnii, scientifically known as Dracaena trifasciata, is a variety of Snake Plant. Other common names include Bird's Nest, Hahn's Snake Plant, or Mother-in-Law's Tongue. It features unique rosette-shaped foliage that resembles a bird's nest. This compact plant reaches only about 8 inches in height, making it ideal as a tabletop centerpiece, or as an addition to a desktop or bookshelf.
Plant Care Tips
Watering
Sansevieria should be watered thoroughly and deeply, but only once the soil has completely dried out. These plants store excess water in their leaves, so even if they appear dry, they may still have reserves to sustain them.
Lighting
Hahnii requires bright light to full sun exposure to truly thrive. While it can survive in low light, it will not grow optimally in such conditions and may become stagnant.
Heat & Humidity
This plant prefers abundant sunlight and warm conditions. It can tolerate basic indoor room temperatures but should not be placed in areas where the temperature drops below 50°F (10°C).
Soil Medium
As a succulent, the Snake Plant thrives in well-draining soil. A general succulent or cactus mix is ideal. While fertilization at the start of the growing season can provide a boost, over fertilizing can harm or kill the plant.
Additional Tips
Generally pest-free, but occasionally susceptible to weevils and mealybugs. Use a basic pesticide available at most hardware stores to treat infestations.
